Throughout 2023, UCL School of Management PhD student Shivaang Sharma has collaborated with a number of United Nations bodies, including the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and United Nations Volunteers, in order to support and expedite the delivery of aid materials to the ongoing Sudan and Gaza conflicts.

Earlier this month, UCL School of Management alumna Ina Jovicic represented UCL in the Prototypes for Humanity event in Dubai alongside UCL Electrical and Electronic Engineering student Gaelic Jara Reinhold. Entering with eNOugh, a smart badge designed to enhance nighttime security with integrated AI technology, the duo travelled to Dubai, where the culmination of Prototypes for Humanity took place under COP28.

In the final year of their BSc Management Science programme, Isabella Mandich, Derin Mutlu and Noah Deron founded LocalMeal, a restaurant discovery platform that promotes smaller and independent businesses that are often overlooked by consumers for more established chain restaurants. Now just two years later, LocalMeal have not only gained thousands of followers on social media, but they have also officially launched their first-ever app, allowing customers to instantly access restaurant recommendations in London.

The event featured an engaging panel discussion drawing over 90 participants, including students, academics, and industry professionals. Moderated by Pierre-Jean (PJ) Hanard, School Lead for Entrepreneurship, attendees gathered eagerly to gain insights from successful entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship enablers.

UCL School of Management alumni and entrepreneur Rashid Aliyev has recently secured over £1 million in funding for his business in a recent investment round. Currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Stackt, a technology startup developing innovative moving and storage systems, Rashid graduated from the School's BSc Information Management for Business programme in 2019 and co-founded Stackt in 2021.

Since the pandemic caused a seismic shift to remote working, scholars across fields and practitioners have been analysing the data from the past three years to understand the effects on productivity and attitudes towards peers caused by the ‘new normal’ remote working model many organisations have taken on. Chia-Jung Tsay’s research into the attitudes to women’s productivity across different working arrangements including in-person and virtual settings was recently referenced in a recent New York Times piece.
