The UCL School of Management is thrilled to announce that two of its initiatives have received significant recognition at the 2024 National Enterprise Educator Awards. The Next Generation of Entrepreneurs for Ukraine Lecture Series won the People’s Choice Award and was “highly commended” in the Enterprise for Good category. Additionally, the Business Builder programme was highly commended in the Entrepreneurship Catalyst category.
The National Enterprise Educator Awards (NEEA) recognises excellence in enterprise and entrepreneurship education across the United Kingdom’s higher education and further education institutions. These awards celebrate those who have demonstrated an exceptional and inspirational commitment to supporting student and graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship.
Developed by UCL School of Management’s Nataliia Hrytsiuk, Visiting Research Associate and Pierre-Jean (PJ) Hanard, School lead for Entrepreneurship, The Next Generation of Entrepreneurs for Ukraine Lecture Series equips aspiring Ukrainian entrepreneurs with the practical tools and knowledge to help them launch innovative businesses. The programme is focused on driving Ukraine’s economic recovery through supporting a new generation of entrepreneurs who are equipped to meet the country’s challenges.
“The fact that this award was decided by public vote makes it especially meaningful,” said PJ Hanard. “It demonstrates the strong public support for the programme’s mission and its contribution to Ukraine’s future.”
Nataliia Hrytsiuk added, “This recognition honours the hard work of our team and participants. As someone who has experienced migration first-hand, I understand the challenges Ukrainians face today. This programme is designed to help rebuild our country, and this award motivates us to continue expanding our efforts.”
The UCL School of Management was also highly commended in the Entrepreneurship Catalyst category for its Business Builder Programme. The programme brings together academics from UCL School of Management and the London College of Fashion, in collaboration with Enterprise4Good, to deliver a free six-week hybrid programme supporting local entrepreneurs in east London by providing resources and guidance to build sustainable business ventures.
Susan Smith, Deputy Director (Student Experience) and Professor of Accounting at UCL School of Management said: “we were delighted to have been Highly Commended in the Entrepreneurship Catalyst category. The Business Builder Programme recognises the importance of entrepreneurship activity in creating economic growth and employment in local communities.”
Looking ahead, both The Next Generation of Entrepreneurs for Ukraine Lecture Series and the Business Builder Programme are set to expand in the future. The former will extend through online platforms, offering more specialised workshops, mentoring opportunities and partnerships with other universities. Meanwhile, the Business Builder Programme will continue to empower local entrepreneurs in east London, with additional resources and support to foster innovation and growth.
