UCL School of Management hosts 27 students from Singapore Management University

UCL School of Management recently hosted 27 students from Singapore Management University at our home in Canary Wharf for a one-week visit that explored the London startup ecosystem. Currently studying SMU’s MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme, the students, along with Programme Director David Gomulya, were invited to One Canada Square by our very own MSc Entrepreneurship programme to enrich their understanding of entrepreneurship within the context of the UK.

Throughout their visit, students explored the surrounding areas of our Canary Wharf location through a tour of Docklands Museum and a dinner at Browns Brasserie and Bar in West India Quay, before visiting the iconic Canary Wharf location of finance company Revolut. They also attended a panel of London-based founders on Level 50 of One Canada Square where they were able to gain valuable insights into the experiences of local entrepreneurs and the journeys of their companies.

Students also attended a number of sessions on key elements of entrepreneurship, including venture capitalism and monetisation in the tech world, as well as a workshop designed to enhance their pitching techniques. These skills were then put to the test through a Pitching Competition held on the final day of the students’ visit. We were also delighted to see that some current students and alumni of our MSc Entrepreneurship programme attended part of the week and built some new relationships with SMU students, demonstrating the programme’s supportive environment and community feel.
