We are thrilled to announce that UCL has ranked 9th best university in the world for the second year in a row in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, marking the university’s 13th consecutive year among the top 10 universities worldwide.
QS is the world’s most-consulted international ranking and uses a number of indicators to compile the rankings, including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, faculty-to-student ratio, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
This year’s ranking is the largest ever, featuring over 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems. With this year’s rankings placing UCL in 9th place, the university falls within the top 1% of all universities assessed.
The 2025 rankings specifically highlight the strength of UCL’s academic and employer reputation, and named UCL second in the world for the strength of its international research network, which takes into account the diversity and impact of our partnerships across the world.
Professor Geraint Rees, UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement), said: “This outstanding result is a great recognition of UCL’s world-leading research, innovation and education, and the many people across the university who make that possible. I’d like to extend my warmest congratulations to the UCL community; this result is testament to their commitment and dedication to excellence.”
