UCL MBA programme celebrates new students with Immersion weekend

Last weekend, UCL School of Management was delighted to welcome students from our UCL MBA programme to London for their bi-annual Immersion weekend. The theme of the weekend was Innovation and Creative Problem Solving, which saw existing and newly arriving UCL MBA students come together to network, work collaboratively and gain key insights on creativity and innovation within the world of business.

Starting the weekend at Wallaceapace near Kings Cross, our UCL MBA students attended a talk by UCL School of Management Lecturer and entrepreneurial expert Richard Anson on ensuring ideas meet a genuine market need. Students then gained key insights into strategies for Design Thinking with UCL School of Management Lecturer and Executive Coach Lorenzo Todorow.

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome a panel of experts to Canary Wharf for an insightful discussion that explored innovation and creativity within a range of sectors and industries. Joining us on the day was Yolande Barnes from UCL’s Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, Tanya Popeau from Live Synthesis, Amy Casterton from ES Global, WIll Lovegrove, Director of Business and Innovation Partnerships at UCL and Raj Tandon from Newable.

On day 3, students visited UCL’s Bloomsbury campus and were tasked with a real business challenge that saw them tackling the real problems facing ES Global and MindHug. We were also extremely honoured to invite UCL School of Management alumnus and MindHug CEO and Founder Raj Singh to assess our students’ creative business solutions.

In addition to academic pursuits, we were delighted to invite students to a number of sessions designed to encourage connection and community building. On Friday, the group enjoyed a cocktail reception at Rev. J. W. Simpson, before heading to Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes on saturday evening for a night of bowling and karaoke. On Sunday, the group headed to a pottery workshop in Studio Pottery London.

We’d like to thank our incredible UCL MBA students for attending the Immersion weekend, as well as our fantastic UCL MBA team for organising and coordinating such an enjoyable experience.
