The COVID-19 pandemic has caused epidemiological havoc across the world and has brought a raft of fundamental challenges for both employees and organisations. For example, a number of people have lost their jobs, many organisations have had to rethink the way they operate and we have even seen some new industries emerging as a result of the pandemic.
A recent review paper by various leading academics looks to help tackle these unique challenges. As a member of the UCL School of Management’s COVID19 Knowledge Portal Dr Sunny Lee contributed to the paper which addresses the workplace implications of COVID-19, including emerging work patterns and practices (e.g., working from home, virtual teams), its economic and social-psychological impacts on employees, and how employees’ social-economic and demographic characteristics (e.g., age, race and ethnicity, gender, personality, family status, and culture) exacerbate the detrimental impacts of the pandemic on some employees.
