Assessment centres are one of the preferred methods employers use as part of the latter stages of their recruitment process. Employers want to find out how you perform in different situations and devise activities to test you in various ways against a specific skill set. CIMA work with over 4,500 employers globally which gives us an insight on how to help graduates meet those skills.
Case studies are a popular tool used by employers, either in an individual setting or group based to give applicants the opportunity to demonstrate how they are able to apply their knowledge into a real business scenario. As well as the applicants being assessed on the quality of their output from the case study activity, they are also being assessed on their soft skills and how they have been appropriate demonstrated throughout the activity.
This session is a group based case study activity, using a revised case study taken from the CIMA qualification and therefore having direct relevance to business and finance roles. The focus of the session is working well in teams to come up with business recommendations on the given case and also to raise awareness of what employers want and look for, but also for the students to reflect on their performance and highlight their own strengths and weaknesses for future development.
